Chairman & General Manager

Chairman and CEO of Jammal Trust Bank (JTB), Mr. Jammal heads both the Board of Directors and the Credit Committee.

With over 35 years of experience in the Banking and Financial sector, Mr. Jammal has taken up the ladder in incremental steps at JTB, rising from Regional Foreign Exchange Manager to Deputy Regional Manager, Personnel & Purchasing Manager, Executive Director, Executive Deputy Chairman and finally, Chairman & CEO.

Holder of an MBA from the University of Westminster, Mr. Jammal has also worked as a Chief Banking Officer at CSC Bank in Lebanon for several years, headed the AML Compliance Committee, and was a member of both the Credit and Human Resources Committees.

Dr. Hassan Rifaat

Dr. Rifaat is the Head of the Board’s Corporate Governance & Remunerations Committee at JTB. He is also a member of JTB’s Board Audit Committee, as his knowledge is considered to be an invaluable asset to the Bank’s Board of Directors.

Holder of a PHD in Law from the University of Lyon, Dr.Rifaat has held many esteemed positions that have marked the development of the Lebanese Legal System. He is one of the main founders of the eminent Lebanese Legal Counsel Firm, Rifaat & Associates, where his inscriptions on the Lebanese Judicial System are abundantly apparent.

Notably, his contributions to the Local and International Legal professions are manifested by his authorship of a wide collection of Law books and studies that are distributed across Lebanon, Gulf countries and Europe.

Dr. Rifaat was previously the General Director of the Ministry of Justice and President of the Central Investigation Directorate

Dr. Shadi Karam

Dr. Shadi Karam is the head of the Board Risk Committee and a member of the AML/CFT committee at JTB.
 
With years of experience in Finance and Banking, Dr. Karam is the Chairman of the board of Astro Bank and is a member of the Board of FFA Private Bank SAL and Al-Mawarid Bank SAL. He is also the Vice Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce in Lebanon.
 
In addition, Dr. Karam is the president of the “Association Libanaise pour le Développement du Mécenat Culturel,” a Commander of the Spanish Order of Isabella the Catholic and an Officer of the Lebanese Order of the Cedar.
 
He formerly occupied the post of Financial Advisor to the General Director of the UNESCO, the former Lebanese President, and the former Lebanese Prime Minister. He also presided as Chairman and CEO of the BLC Bank Group along with several Real Estate Development, Trading, Banking and Financial entities in Europe and the Middle East.
 
Dr. Karam is a Graduate from the American University of Beirut, Columbia University-New York, and Harvard University. He taught Economics, Finance and Banking at several reputable universities and has published several studies and articles on Financial Banking, Political and Social issues.

Dr. Hussein Yateem

Dr. Yateem is the Head of AML/CFT Committee at JTB. He holds a PHD in Arabic Literature and is the Chairman of the Educational Arab Institute (EST), a group of establishments specializing in secondary and technical education.
 
Dr. Yateem was previously a Deputy of the Lebanese Parliament, a board member of the Lebanese National Social Security Fund and has once held the post of the Lebanese Minister of Education. 

 

Dr. Mohammad Cheaib

Dr. Cheaib heads the Board Audit Committee and is a member of both the Board Credit Committee & Board Corporate Governance & Remunerations Committee at JTB.
 
Dr. Cheaib harbors more than 50 years of experience in the Banking and Financial sector. He currently presides as Chairman and General Manager of Intra Investment Co SAL, an affiliate of the Lebanese Central Bank (Banque Du Liban) and is a member of the Board of Fenicia Bank SAL, Formerly known as Bank of Kuwait and the Arab World SAL, where he previously held the General Manager position for nine years.
 
His previous board memberships include: Beirut Stock Exchange, the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon, the Research Committee at the Association of Lebanese Banks, the Lebanese Judicial Arbitration Center, Fransabank, and the Parliamentary Committee for the Arab Common Market.

 Holder of a PHD in Business and Economics from Aix-Marseille University, Dr. Cheaib has also written several books and studies in the field of Economics.

Dr. Ghaleb Mahmassani

Dr. Mahmassani is a member of both the Board Risk and AML/CFT Committees at JTB . 

He is an International Arbitrator, a member of the Permanent Arbitration Court in The Hague and a Legal counselor for Solidère SAL. He is also a member of several committees including: the Committee for Legal System Modernization at the Lebanese Ministry of Justice, The National Commission on Electoral Law, the Legal Committee at Banque Du Liban and the Consultative Committee for Arbitration at the Beirut Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

 Dr. Mahmassani has a PHD in Law from the University of Lyon, degrees in both Lebanese and French Law, and a degree in Political Sciences from the American University of Beirut. He has also contributed academically to the Lebanese Legal System library numerous times.

Mr. Michel Fernaini

Mr. Michel Ferneini is a member of JTB’s Board Audit, Credit and Risk Committees.
 
For over two decades, Mr. Ferneini worked in Beirut and across various European countries and has amassed valuable experience as a Financial Consultant to Merrill Lynch. He currently presides as Chairman and General Manager of Société Financière du Liban SAL (SOFIL), a financial group that is affiliated to a total of 33 banking institutions, and has become a member of the Board at Intra Investment Co SAL, along with a number of its subsidiaries. Mr. Ferneini is a board member at Fenicia Bank and chairs the AML and CFT.  He is also a Board member at Saradar Bank and Chairs the Risk committee. Furthermore, Mr. Ferneini is a board member of VITAS and SGET. 

 Mr. Ferneini holds a BBA in Business and Finance from the American University of Beirut.
